The Creative Discovery Museum in Chattanooga, TN is a must-do activitiy if you are in the area and have small children.

For $10.00 per person, you can enjoy an entire day at this great museum.  The Creative Discovery Museum has twelve major attractions and each of them are hands on.  Kids won't be bored for a second as they learn and play here.

Some of our favorite exhibits are:

~ Riverplay: Kids get to see how the river system in Tennessee works.  There's a crow's nes, a boat where kids can pretend to be a captain, and even a slide.  Kids will learn about the river currents, dams, and more.  My kids love water and we spend a lot of time at this exhibit when whenever we go.

~ Rooftop Fun Factory: On nice days, this is a great place to learn about machines.  I have girls that love this area of the museum, so I can only imagine what fun little boys have with this one.  Parents will like seeing all of downtown Chattanooga from the roof while the kids play.

~ Excavation Station: A giiant sandbox, this is a great exhibit for kids of all ages.  Kids will look for buried bones just like an excavator does.  There is also a soil wall that kids can climb through to see how animals live underground.  We always have to literally pull our kids away from this exhibit.

~ Performing Arts Gallery: If you have a budding musician on your hands or just a big American Idol fan, this exhibit will be a huge hit. Kids can play instruments and can even record in the real recording room.

Optics Gallery: This is my favorite exhibit at the Creative Discovery Museum and my kids like it too.  I love all of the visual illusions and it's fun to have my kids try to explain them to me.  This is the one they have to drag ME away from!

Another thing that we really love about this museum is that the have a cafe right inside with food that is actually reasonably priced. They also have art classes available on the weekends.  The theme changes every month.

If you live close to Chattanooga, TN or you're planning a vacation in the area, this is something you'll definitely want to do!
