This summer, if you're planning a road trip, despite increasing gas prices, here are some helpful tips that will save you money on the road.  My favorite was number seven. I was leery of trying this but a personal friend has had a smooth experience.  If you tried any of these, please share your experience in detail by posting a comment!

We have used all seven of these tips at one time or another and they all are great ideas... We still take foods and drinks and coupons we use coupons and even have for years traded our place for another. that was when we lived in the USVI for years....it all worked out good. One good savings too is when one stops to eat. my husband and I are not big eaters so we share a lot of foods too...and we share drinks too. We use tip 3. we carry foods and snacks that will travel well for four to seven hours.we fill our cooler with lots of fruits. the kids get to pick their own fruits, snacks and drinks.we also carry road games. having the tv and games to play really helps contribute to a more peaceful trip.

Yes, we always use tip 3. We take a lot of food with us: wraps, boiled eggs, fruits, string cheese, some cookies, water and hot chocolate in a termos. Works wonders. We can drive 4-5 hours straight with only one stop for the restrooms and cas fill up. We also kind of used tip7, we stoped overnights at our friends houses on the way. This is really great, you get to see your far away frinds and save on hotel. But do not forget to bring presents for friends!
