Make 'N' Break by Ravensburger has quickly become one of our family's favorite games. It claims it is for ages 8-99, but my 5 year old flourishes at it and it's just a really simple, fun game to play.
The general premise of Make n Break is - you've got 10 wooden building blocks and you are timed at how many block structures you can build according to the cards in a certain amount of time. Sometimes you have to follow the pattern exactly - design and color of blocks; other times you follow the pattern but can use any blocks regardless of color.
When time's up, total the points on your completed building cards & collect those tokens. After 4 rounds, the one with the most points is the winning builder.
Unlike many other "family" games, this one is actually fun for the parents. The game is also great for math. I always let the kids take turns adding up the scores and am conitnually amazed at how much they can add up in their heads at such a young age. It also teaches patience and focus skills as well as logic as some of the structures are harder to build than others.
All in all, this is a really good one to have on your shelf or to give as a gift.
