Avoid it now simply by adding a few drops of Tea Tree oil to your regular shampoo, lather and massage into the scalp well and rinse thoroughly.  You can also buy Tea Tree Oil shampoos from Whole Foods and I'm sure other stores but this is obviously more expensive.
