As an old science professor, I'm always looking for ways to generate interest in science in kids, especially little girls. If you can make science projects fun to them at an early age, they won't turn away from it as they grow up. I decided it was time to get my grandkids started so before they came over this weekend I noodled around looking for a website and came across a pbs kids site called Zoom. What I really like about it is that not only are the science experiments fun, but the kids can read the results that others got when they did the experiment, and they can also email in their own results.
We did the "How to make butter" and "Color Symphony". There are all kinds of science projects that you can do, based upon the age of your children. You can choose from all different kinds of categories such as life science, the five senses, forces & energy, engineering and so on. There's a real easy one where you make a bird feeder from a milk carton. So start encouraging your young budding scientists.
