Saving money has become a priority for many of us these days. I know that many people including myself are constantly looking for ways to spend less money, yet they want to continue to maintain the lifestyle that they are use to living. Prices of homes in many areas have dropped a lot, yet prices of food continue to rise or remain at the same expensive cost. So where and how can you save money on groceries you ask?

Before you go to the store to do grocery shopping there are several things that you should do first.

1. Start by clipping coupons. You can find coupons in the Sunday paper or online. Coupons.com and SmartSource.com are some great websites where you can find printable coupons. Also be sure to check out the store circular for special instore coupons.

2. Next you should do a complete inventory. Check your fridge, kitchen cabinets, pantry, laundry room and bathroom to see what you really need. Itemize what you need into categories such as baking, dairy, fresh produce, beverages, etc. Make sure to have the store list next to you when you are putting your list together to see if what you need is on sale and if so what the price of the sale and size of the item is. Be sure to write down exactly what the ad says so that you don't take the wrong item by mistake.

3. When you have completed the above steps, take the time to learn the store lingo...
