This site has some creative suggestions for all matters in the kitchen. For example, I knew that if an egg floats, it's probably bad, but I didn't know that I could restore flat champagne by dropping a raisin or two into the bottle (not that I get to drink it that often). And all this time we've stored herbs in the refrigerator only to see them go limp, when we should have been storing them in the freezer. If you've over salted the soup, toss in a few potato wedges to absorb the excess.
The site offers ideas for left overs, such as storing the extra cooked pasta in a zip lock bag and just dropping it in boiling water for few seconds to heat it and restore mositure. There's a cleaning tip that suggests filling plastic food containers with crumpled up newspaper to absorb odors. I need to try that with the one we used for storing garlic pesto.
