One of the few indulgences I find irresistable has to be Cinnabon. Each time I'm at the airport, I am powerless to pass them by. I always bring some home and I thought that since I love to bake, why not see if I can find a recipe that is almost if not as good as the original. We tried them today, and they were phenomenal. While they're not exactly low calorie, (if they were, they wouldn't taste this good!) they're a wonderful indulgence and in addition to saving money, I don't have to drive to the airport to get them. They are easy to make (if you're accustomed to working with bread) and worth the effort. I've set up the recipe for those who have bread machines and those who don't.

1 c warm milk (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 eggs room temperature
1/3 c margarine, melted
4 1/2 c bread flour of high gluten content
1 tsp salt
1/2 c white sugar
2 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast

Place ingrediants in the bread machine in the order recommended by the machine manufacturer, select dough cycle, press start. After the dough has doubled in size, turn it onto a floured surface, cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

For those not using a machine, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk in a large bowl. Mix in the sugar, margarine, salt and eggs. Add flour and mix well. Knead the dough into a large ball using your hands dusted with flour. Put in a bowl and let rise in a warm place around an hour or until doubled in size. Then pick up the recipe where it starts with combining the sugar and cinnamon.

1 c brown sugar packed
2 1/2 tbl ground cinnamon
1/3 c butter, softened

In a small bowl combine sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough into a 16 x 20 inch rectangle and spread it with the butter. Evenly sprinkle it with the sugar/cinnamon mixture then roll it up and cut into twelve rolls. Place them on a greased baking sheet, cover and let them rise until doubled, around 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

1 3 oz package of cream cheese, softened
1/4 c butter, softened
1 1/2 c confectioner's sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt

Bake the rolls until they are golden brown, around 15 minutes. While they are baking beat together the remaining ingredients. Spread the frosting on the warm rolls before serving.
