While the grand kids were visiting today I thought it would be great fun for them to create their own pop-up cards for the holidays. I found this website full of crafts for kids including pop-up cards. We started out with the simplest one, the pop-up tree, and soon they graduated to the flower garden template but instead of flowers, we made a winter scene with a house, a snowman and more pine trees, one of which they decorated as a Christmas tree. We even found a pop-up New Year's card and made one for 2010.

All of the crafts offered are free. They even have some edible ones, like a fire truck made from graham crackers. And there are a lot of other educational resources, such as writing, biology, the physical sciences and even languages, listed on the bottom. But if you want to print out the lesson, work sheets, etc. you have to join for $20.00 and the subscription lasts for one year. Still, you get access to over 20,000 pages and the ability to enlarge images.
