We had a lot of the regular kids cds in our car but they were getting old for the parents.  Then one day we heard Roger Day's "Ready to Fly" on one of our local college radio stations that has a weekend kids show.  We were hooked instantly.  Roger Day's kids music really is fun and Ready to Fly includes guest singers The Indigo Girls and Nancy Griffith - so parents tend to like him too .  Some of the songs from the Ready to Fly cd are:

  • It's a No No to kiss a Rhino
  • Open up the Coconut
  • If you Jump on the Bed
  • Helicopter Harry [had helicopter hair....!]

The songs are really fun - my 4 year old adores them right now and my 7 year old still likes them!  He has a few more cds too.  Check out Roger Day's website to see if he will be visiting your town soon too - I hear he is amazing live.

I couldn't disagree more. Roger is a competent singer and guitarist, but the music is rudimentary at best; repetitive and patronizing at worst. I find his music to be run of the mill Raffi knock off material. This is not Dan Zanes or Jack Johnson doing kids music. This is strictly kids only music that this parent gets sick of almost immediately.
