I saw an article in Family Fun magazine last year about letterboxing. It sounded so much fun so me & kids tried it out. The kids loved it! What is it? Well, the short answer is it's a treasure hunt to find hidden boxes all over the US.
For complete info and to find boxes in your area visit the website.
To get started in letterboxing, you just need a log book (memo pad), personal stamp and an ink pad. Bug spray & sunscreen might be good have with you as well. Print off the clues for the box you want to search for. Be careful while searching though....you want to be discreet, especially if there are people around! When you find your treasure, you stamp their book and use their stamp to stamp yours.....I always write a short note and the date in the books too. I also take a picture of the kids with the box for my log book. When hiding the box, make sure you hide it completely exactly where you found it and make sure you seal up all bags so it doesn't get ruined. If you check out the website, I'm sure you'll be amazed at the boxes in your area!
Next time the kids are saying they're bored...take them on hunt to find their first box..you'll be hooked! =)
