Provide all the comforts your child will need on the trip including snacks, drinks, and pacifiers close by.

Keep a small supply of good car toys, such as books and quiet toys without many pieces.

Have a place to put garbage.  On long car trips, throw out trash at every stop.

Have a container of wipes for quick clean-ups and sticky fingers.

Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle, including a car emergency kit, blanket, and first-aid kit.  Don't forget a handy water jug!

Keep a port-a-potty in the trunk with small trash bags and wipes.  Avoid spills by placing a few sheets of paper towels in the bottom of the potty to soak up the urine until you can dispose of it properly.
