Wow!! we just got home from Bobby's Ranch in Acton, where we went on an hour-long horseback riding tour through gorgeous woods. My 10 year old twins and I have never ridden before, and we were a little scared (ok, terrified!) but it was really fun and very not scary! The tour leaders were kind and understanding and never made us feel like the uncoordinated clods we were. There were about 11 people in our party, mostly kids. Sometimes, they have the tours trot and canter, but we mostly just walked, since our group was mostly beginners. They gear each tour to the participants. My daughters borrowed helmets for free. It cost $25 per person, but it costs more on the weekends. There is a weight limit of 250 pounds.  They also offer lessons, and other services such as hay rides. Check the website. What a terrific way to spend an afternoon. We are going to go again before school starts, but I also can't wait to go back in autumn, when the woods are fragrant and beautiful.
