"The Providence Children's Museum ROCKS!"  That is what my neice said the last time we went there.  It is great for walkers up to age 12 or so.  They have special programs just about everyday and a great gift shop.  Check out the Waterways room or the Iway project (Providence's answer to Boston's Big Dig).  Very reasonable rates but come early to beat the crowds.

The museum is free on the first Sunday of every month. Making it a great Sunday afternoon activity.
