| New | More cultural diversity on Nick Jr. - Ni Hao, Kai-lan |
Starting in October on Nick Jr. called, "Ni-Hao, Kai-lan". As an Asian American myself married to a Caucasian man, we have two daughters who are bi-racial and I am so excited for this new show. As quoted in the Forbes article, " Ni Hao, Kai-lan is Nick Jr.'s first series to feature a Chinese-American intergenerational family. Through the eyes of a 5- year-old Chinese-American girl named Kai-lan, the series explores the colorful aspects of her upbringing and background, her relationships with her family and friends and the world around her. Ni Hao, Kai-lan will take preschoolers on a joyful exploration of Mandarin language and Chinese culture, while helping them to identify their emotions and learn coping mechanisms to deal with their feelings.". This is a great way to introduce children to the Asian culture and also if you have bi-racial children like myself, it is also a great way to help them appreciate and retain their culture. Comments
