Witchcraft seems to be more accepted and certainly more popular in Europe, where I come from, than in the USA. In Holland, wicca is considered, even by the media, ‘strange, but interesting’. Here the label reads: ‘strange and suspicious’.
But there’s nothing scary about wicca and definitely nothing evil. It is a religion that celebrates the elements, the beauty of nature, the sun, the moon and the stars. It studies the healing powers of plants and it brings out the magic and positive powers in every person.
Witches are usually helpers and healers; there are many teachers, social workers, and therapists among them.
If you wish to have more reliable information, read the books written by successful, modern witches like Starhawk (base: San Francisco), Laurie Cabot (Salem) and Phyllis Curott (New York).
Also, on the Internet you’ll find more about wicca than you can imagine (not always reliable). You’ll be surprised; probably there is a coven in your hometown!
