Several years ago my husband decided we would start a new family tradition.  He’d heard of a German tradition that he liked which involved a pickle ornament.  Sadly, we weren’t able to find a pickle ornament, so we improvised with a cute little frog ornament.  Every Christmas we hide the frog somewhere on our Christmas tree (we wait until Christmas Eve after the kids have gone to bed).  Whoever finds the frog on Christmas morning gets to open the “frog” gift.  Admittedly, the gift is usually something for the entire family, but the kids really enjoy the hunt for the frog!
