| +3 | Parental Control Software Buying Guide from PC Magazine |
My kids love Webkinz and PBS Kids but I can't watch them every second they are online. So we're in the market for some parental control software for the pc. I happened across this Parental Control Software Buying Guide from PC Magazine and found it very useful. Net Nanny sounds amazing and I think we're going to get it. It has a time scheduler, content management, IM monitoring and even remote management and email alerts. I could only find Net Nanny 5.5 on Amazon, but the review was just written on 2.1.08, so it should be available soon. Comments
PC Pandora just released version 5.0 and is way better. Its monitoring capabilities are first rate. For me, I only need simple filters and blocks -- I am more concerned with who they are talking to and KNOWING what they are doing -- not trying to restrict access... Teens will only get around it. Look up PC Pandora monitoring software on the web... They are actually a little cheaper too. Better value.
Another thing we are doing is putting our computer in a common area of the house. You still can't watch every second, but it will make it easier to monitor the kids.
