| +1 | Politics Behind "No Growth Hormone" Milk Label |
Given that we're all parents and most of us probably buy a lot of milk, I thought you'd find this New York Times article interesting. Over the past year or two, we've seen more milk come with labels saying something to the effect that "Our Farmers Assure Us That The Cows That Made This Milk Were Not Given Artificial Growth Hormones." When we're feeling too pinched to buy organic, we try to buy milk with these labels. So apparently, there's a "grass-roots" movement among dairy farmers to stop the use of these labels. But it turns out that this advocacy group, Afact (American Farmers for the Advancement and Conservation of Technology), is really organized by Monsanto, the company that makes Posilac, the artificial hormone given to cows to increase their milk supply. Thank you! I wonder what is safe. Recently, I found out that soy is several forms (soy milk) is not the healthy choice I thought it was. It makes me nervous and concerned ... I feel like buying a few chickens, cows ,,,,
