| New | A Unique Twist on Easter Egg Contests |
While most easter egg contests involve colored dyes, glitter, stickers and hard boiled eggs, this one is more likely to include shoe boxes, popcorn, styrofoam peanuts, hollowed out tennis balls and even makeshift mini parachutes.....all being used to cushion the landing of a very un-hard-boiled egg. Have your attention? Let me introduce the very exciting Egg Drop Contest! It's odd, it's zany, but with a little creativity and a small tolerance for outdoor mess, I promise it'll be a major hit! This very quirky tradition took hold in a serious way after my mom implement an idea she read in a parenting magazine years ago. The basic idea is that every participant recieves an egg (it MUST be raw) and a time limit in which to package it up (within the size perimeters of your choosing) in such a way that it will survive a fall without breaking. We used to do it off the roof but a deck or any outside area several feet above ground would work just as well. At showtime, every one displays and explains their egg-cushioning scheme and the contest officially begins when the first player drops his egg apparatus. At the end of each round all eggs are examined and those eggs that break are disqualified while any survivors move on to the next round. The person whose egg survives the longest is declared the Egg Drop Champion of the year and may even win a small prize! My brothers and I saw to it that Easter never came and went with out an egg-drop champion until school and work spread us across the country, and when my little family owns a place of our own the tradition will be resurrected at my house. So take a chance on a crazy activity idea, it's sure to leave you smiling and provide you with some great Easter pics! Comments
