| +13 | Homemade Easter Egg Dyes |
I know I have an Easter egg dying kit stashed in the attic somewhere, but this year, I'm going to leave it there. I found a cute blog item at the Budget Casa on making your own Easter egg dyes. This could be a good learning opportunity for kids. Think about how the pioneers may have dyed their clothes, for instance. Here are the fruits, vegetables, and spices they use to make the different colored dyes: Pink/Red: Cranberries or cranberry juice, beets, radishes Orange: Dried paprika Green: Spinach leaves Yellow: Lemon peels, dried turmeric, celery seed Purple: Red cabbage, blueberries, blackberries, grape juice Brown: Coffee, tea, dill seeds Check out Budget Casa for full dying instructions. Based on what's in my cupboards and refrigerator, we may not get all the colors of the rainbow this year, but I'm going to enjoy this experiment. Comments
