Organize Your Bathroom Cabinet to Save Space

When we re-did our tiny half bathroom located off of our kitchen, we decided to scale down to one cabinet underneath our sink to save space.  We kept a lot of medical supplies in there and I had to be creative. First I threw out anything that was expired and the items that were not must haves for that one went to our bigger upstairs bathroom or if it was hardly used it was thrown out.  I decided what our must have items were based on what I always needed right away.  I got clear plastic shoe boxes with lids from the Container Store so I could divide items and still be able to see what was in each box. These were to be stored in the cabinet stacked on top of each other to save space. I catagorized the boxes - first aid stuff, a box for meds and a box for misc emergency cleaning supplies like bathroom cleaning wipes, toilet cleaner and one for my feminine supplies like tampons etc.  My first aid box was tough though b/c I had different kinds of band-aids (from waterprooof to stretchy to every character that my girls like etc.).  I took all the band-aids out of their boxes, cut out the front of the box and placed that in clear sandwich bags with the band-aids behind the box covers.  With all of them in plastic bags instead of the bulky boxes, it saved a tremendous amount of room and I was able to fit all the first-aid stuff in a shoe box.  Plus the plastic bags allow me to see which band-aids I needed to stock up on in one glance.  And with everything catagorized in a box, it helped scale things down to a minimum.  My re-organizing worked and now we are also able to get easy access to everything.

Make sure you don't keep medication in the bathroom. The temperature and humidity can ruin the medicine.
