The end of the school year is near - so it's time to start thinking about a gift for the teacher. Just how do you say thank you in a meaningful way? Below are some articles full of fun ideas for teacher gifts from a bunch of parents with experience and the teachers themselves! Gifts Ideas with a Homemade Touch - Are you feeling creative or looking for a one-of-a-kind teacher gift? Here are some crafty ideas that you and your child can create together. Organizing one large gift from the entire class is also a great idea if you can swing it. Perhaps buying a small wooden bookcase from AC Moore and then having each child donate their favorite book to the bookshelf. Each individual book can have a nameplate displaying the child's name. (i.e To Mrs. Smith: Thank you for teaching me to Read. Love Tommy Jones... etc.) Paint a cermic piece at a local ceramics shop. Little bowls, candy dishes, pencil holders, or a plate are cute & practical. At the end of the day, it really is the thought that counts in choosing a gift for the teacher.

Thank you so much for posting this. As a teacher, I really feel the silly or wonderful gifts I get really say that the parents appreciate how well I've cared for their kids. Please don't forget the middle school teachers--even something from the dollar store is GREATLY appreciated, because it means you noticed that we work hard.
Great tips!!
We've been buying group gift certificates from our local chamber of commerce. We want to nurture local, mom and pop businesses and strengthen school/community outreach since most of our teacher commute to our charter school.
We do this at Christmas break and at the end of the year. Each parent is suggested an amount and they always exceed the amount! Last year we got close to 400.00 to split between 3 teachers - not bad!! :)
