According to the Bicycle Helmet Safety Institute, “eighty-five percent of bicyclists killed in 2003 reportedly weren't wearing helmets.”  Get one for your child and make it fun!  You can allow your child to pick out their own.  Wear one to as encouragement also.  Visit www.bhsi.org to learn more ways to encourage your child to use a helmet.  Also, don’t forget helmets are not just for bikes, they should be used when roller skating, playing certain sports as well while horseback riding.
