This park is great for family fun!  If you travel to Newport, RI with children, this is a great place to take the kids.  Ocean Drive is a scenic coastal road that has these beautiful mansions.  This is also the road where some scenes were filmed from the movie Me, Myself and Irene with Jim Carrey.     This road comes out to a point where you have the ocean all around (not too close to the road) and it's just beautiful. 

The state park is a big grassy area with picnic tables and outdoor grills so you can barbecue.  I found this place great to have a family day.  The park has alot of walking trails that you can walk about and look for the wild bunnies.  This is also the prime place for kite flying!  While I haven't done it myself, every time I go there, there are a ton of kites flying around.  It's amazing to see them all.  There is also a vendor there that sells kites if you forget to bring one. 

It's beautiful to see the sun set over the ocean, but bring warm clothes as it does get pretty breezy.
