The Georgia Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the world and a thrill for all ages. It is always fun to visit but especially so on those cold rainy days or broiling hot days of summer when you look for something great to do indoors. When visiting the aquarium I reccomend that you see the exhibits in the following order: Georgia Explorer, River Scout, Cold Water Quest, Tropical Diver, and Ocean Voyager. This order builds up the sense of excitement from the most simple to the absolutely awesome.

If you have small children, they will love the touch pools where they can actually feel some of these amazing creatures. The touch pools are located in front of the Georgia Explorer, inside the Georgia Explorer and at the front of Cold Water Quest. If your little ones need to burn off some energy, the Georgia Explorer exhibit is for them with items they can handle, soft safe floors and a ship they can climb upon.

If cute is your thing then you must see the two Sea Otters, Gracie and Oz as well as the Asian Small Clawed Otters. Both are located in the Cold Water Quest along with the penguines and the magnificient Beluga Whales.

If you want to really do up this fantastic place then allow about four hours. There is dining to the right of the atrium and the food is quite good and very reasonably priced for a venue of this type.

You cannot bring any food, drinks or gum into the aquarium so you must buy *everything* there. You will be searched before you enter. It gets a little expensive. They have a fancy desert island right in the middle of the cafeteria so your little ones can't miss it. It's $2.50 for a largish bottle of Dasani water and $4 for a PB&J sandwich with a chewy granola bar and a strawberry. The fancy chocolate cupcakes are $3.50 each. Additionally, there is a play area or sorts in the children's section but you must be 42" to enter and it is monitored by a staff person. Neither of my children are tall enough to enter yet, but it will be a problem when one can go in and the other cannot.
