| +1 | Learning Java Programming |
Warning, computer programming is not for the faint of heart or the easily frustrated. JAVA is Sun Microsystem's cross platform language which means that a language written on one make of computer will run one all makes of computer with that language capability. In this case, that language is JAVA. Because of the cross platform capabilities, JAVA is becoming quite popular in the computer world. While learning to program computers in not an easy task and can be frustrating at times, it can also be a good learning experience, good training in the logical thought process, and good for forcing the paying attention to detail. All of which are good for creating sharp minds. Another nice feature about JAVA is that it is safe to experiment with because experimenting will not hurt the computer (bruise the ego maybe; but, not the computer). Learning can also be rewarding when a program is completed and successfully running no matter how simple that first or subsequent program is (a real ego booster). A sense of accomplishment is always a good feeling. An even greater feature for the adventurous who wish to at least try at learning JAVA is that all the tools required are free and work on most computers so long as the computer is JAVA capable. Warning, setting up the computer to use JAVA may be frustrating at times as well; but, for most will not be; however, it might be time consuming. Even if the compter is not currently JAVA capable, what is needed to make the computer capable is also available for free. The place to start finding everything needed is at Sun JAVA which will give links to the Integrated Development System (IDE - environment in which programs are written), tutorials, and books. There are also a great number of sites to answer questions and provide discussion forums if additional help is needed. Who knows where being more venturous can take one. Comments
