My preferred web browser is Firefox, a free browser that works with the Windows® and Macintosh® operating systems. One of the reasons that I like Firefox is the wide range of add-ons (which are also free) that expand the capabilities and fun of web browsing. For those worried about spyware and other annoyances, there is NoScript which blocks out scripts that insert spyware as well as the other annoying behavior. To enrich the view there is CoolIris which brings the 3D experience to web browsing. Another is FastDial which provides a thumbnail page for a quick referencing of favorite pages. For the record, some of these add-ons are available for Explorer® (the Windows® browser) and Safari® (the Macintosh® browser). A final note about Foxfire is that upgrades of both the browser and add-ons can be done automatically. A word about NoScript for the unsuspecting. When the add-on is in use, a field appears at the bottom of the screen when scripts have been disabled. This is a normal operation to give the option of enabling permanently or temporarily the disabled script. It is nothing to worry about. Comments
