Capron Park Zoo is a great place to introduce your wee one to the zoo.  It is very manageable in size - you can easily see all the animals in one hour.  They have Leopards, Kangaroos, Otters, but our favorite is the Rainforest building - where you can see birds fly and a giant porcupine without any glass separating you from them (just a tall fence).  Older kids will enjoy the animals as well as the water mist tent.  The zoo is reasonable in price as well.  Out-of-towners pay $5.50, kids 3 - 13 pay $3.75 and children under three are free.  The zoo is set in a beautiful park and next to the entrance of the zoo is a great little playground.  Minutes from Route 95. http://www.capronparkzoo.com/index.htm
