It is lovely to start the new school year with an inexpensive gift for the new teacher. I found the coolest thing on ebay: personalized stickers for teachers to put on student papers. There are dozens of different styles, and several different people selling them, so I didn't include a url here. I bought myself stickers with a cow that say "Moo-velous work from Mrs. (my name)" and some with a calculator that say "Mrs. (my name) Says Great Math Work!" Trust me, when I put them on the students' papers, they love them (and I teach middle school!).  Of course, I got some for my kids' teachers too. I paid about $3 for 63 stickers, including shipping. Oh, do me one favor: don't buy them for anyone who teaches at my school-I want to be the only one with the cool stickers! Teeheehee.
