Do you have a child starting preschool in September? My daughter started last year, so I was looking for some picture books to help her know what to expect. These were our favorites:

• I Love You All Day Long, by Francesca Rusackas and Priscilla Burris (Illustrator)

A small pig is worried about leaving his mother to start school. She urges him to remember that when they are apart, no matter what happens, her love follows him, and will comfort him.

• D.W.'s Guide to Preschool, by Marc Brown

If you’ve read any Arthur books, you know how entertaining D.W. is. She gives you her spin on what happens in a typical day at preschool, which includes learning how to share, bathroom breaks, and lots of fun and games.

• My First Day at Nursery School, by Becky Edwards

• Wemberly Worried, by Kevin Henkes

One of my favorite children’s books, where a young introverted mouse who worries about everything now has a new worry – her first day at nursery school. When she is introduced to another mouse at school with a similar temperament, her worries are forgotten and she enjoys the day.
